Meet the Proprietor
The unique reputation of Edward II Inn and Suites is largely a reflection of your host, Jai Das. Jai is a man of many worlds and cultures. His roots go back to Malawi, a British colony in central Africa to which his grandparents emigrated in the 1940s. Jai and his family later emigrated to Wales.
After graduating from the University of Wales as a civil engineer, Jai discovered that sitting behind a drawing board didn't capture his imagination. It wasn't structures that inspired him; it was people. While studying in Wales, Jai found job as waiter, and it was then that he fell in love with the service business.
Jai emigrated to the U.S. in 1992 where he worked in a succession of jobs in the hospitality industry, including managing the hotel next to Edward II. He bought his first property in Fresno, California. Five years later, he sold that and was on vacation when he saw an announcement on the Internet that Edward II Inn and Suites was for sale. Having always admired the property, he called the agent, and within two days, Jai was the new owner.
By acquiring Edward II, Jai had a foundation into which he could realize his ambition of creating a truly distinctive hospitality experience. Jai shares this challenge with his wife, Rita. Rita was born in England and grew up in the hospitality business. Together, Jai, Rita and their staff are totally committed to making your stay an experience to remember.
Jai's own recreational activities reflect an equally high level of achievement. Jai was the English karate champion in the under-16 class. And in 1993 he was California central coast champion. Whatever he does, Jai Das does well.
